Try to ensure that the young person has adequate toys and games around to keep them entertained–part of the assessment is about observation and how well the young person is able to concentrate and focus. If they are finding it really difficult the assessment can be completed in more than 1 session.

It is preferable if you have had a discussion with your young person before the appointment–their opinion of the process is important

As school will have seen your young person for a great number of hours, it is beneficial for them to have had an opportunity to express any concerns they too might have–we will always ask that request they complete some documentation.

Please note that all parents with parental responsibility of the young person will need to have consented to the ADHD assessment
